How does ColdAlert work?
The ColdAlert icon is designed to change color to indicate exposure to extremely cold temperatures. Indoors or in the warm temperatures, the snowflake on the patch is light blue. When exposed to temperatures that drop below 14º F (-10º C), the snowflake appears a darker shade of blue and continues to progressively turn darker as the temperatures drop to more extreme levels.
How quickly does the indicator react to indicate to freezing temperatures?
The ColdAlert patch will change to a vibrant blue color after seconds of exposure to cold temperatures below 14º F (-10º C). As temperatures continue to drop to more extreme levels, the snowflake will turn a dark shade of blue.
Does repeated washing affect the icon or its function?
The ColdAlert patch is not affected by routine machine washing. Washing is recommended per care label instructions.
Is the ColdAlert technology affected by dry cleaning?
The ColdAlert patch is not affected by limited dry cleaning. Follow care label instructions for best results.
Is the ColdAlert patch weather resistant?
Yes, ColdAlert is designed for exposure to weather and freezing temperatures.
What styles of garments is the ColdAlert technology incorporated into?
The ColdAlert technology can be incorporated in to hats, coats, gloves or any outerwear designed for cold temperatures. The patch can also be incorporated into athletic wear and extreme sports gear.
What is the ColdAlert patch made out of?
ColdAlert is a PVC or silicon patch made using thermochromic dyes. The patches are Phthalate free making them free of any potentially harmful chemicals associated with some rubber, silicone or plastic products.
How long does it take for the ColdAlert icon to return to its normal body?
The ColdAlert icon will take approximately seconds to return to its normal body upon returning to indoor or warm temperatures.
